Obituary: Larry Bernard Clopton, 69, Magnolia

LARRY BERNARD CLOPTON

Larry Bernard Clopton, 69, of Magnolia, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Nortons Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 11, 1949, in Hodgenville to the late Lyndle Clopton and his mother, Sally Gibson Clopton of Magnolia. He was an Army veteran and was awarded three silver stars and the Combat Infantry badge. He was a retired police officer with 20 years of service for the Louisville Police Department, where he received citations of Merit and Valor. He was a deputy sheriff for LaRue County Sheriff’s Department with 10 years of service. He was loved by everyone he met, he was a loving father, son, brother and papaw.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyndle Clopton; and his grandparents, Willard and Cora B. Clopton and Mary Gibson.

He is survived by one daughter, Heather (Brian) Dennis of Elizabethtown; one son, Jason Douglas (Laura) Clopton of Indiana; his mother, Sally I. Clopton of Magnolia; one brother, Doug (Amy) Clopton of Magnolia; three grandchildren, Tyson Clopton, Jacob DeSpain, and Brandon Dennis; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel with Bro. Shannon McCubbins officiating. Burial is in the Benningfield Chapel Cemetery in Magnolia.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, and after 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2018, until time of service at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd. Hodgenville, is in charge of arrangements.
