Obituary: Fern Marie Parrish Geoghegan, 98, Boston

FERN MARIE PARRISH GEOGHEGAN

Fern Marie Parrish Geoghegan, 98, of Boston, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at Windsor Gardens. She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Boston on a farm, and she and her husband enjoyed farming their entire life. She and her husband, John Hollan Geoghegan II, owned a roller-skating rink in Elizabethtown, where they both were accomplished roller skaters. She and her husband also owned and managed the Woodlawn Store for many years. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed ceramics, dancing, gardening, homemaker activities, and was devoted to her family. She was a member of Boston Community Center and Boston Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Hollan” Geoghegan II; one daughter, Judith Lynn Geoghegan Richardson Jett; one son, John “Johnny” Hollan Geoghegan III; her parents, Thomas and Lillie Parrish; one sister, Erman Parrish McClaskey; and one brother, Thomas Weller Parrish.

She is survived by one son, Terry L. Geoghegan of Bardstown; two grandchildren, Wade F. “Trey” Richardson III and Hollyn Marie (Rob Karlen) Richardson, both of Louisville; one great-granddaughter, Lily-Jane Karlen; eight stepgreat-grandchildren, Nolan, Simon, Stella, Abbi, Nora Kate, George, Sturgill, and Micah Jett; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery with Chaplain Terry Troutman officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the donor’s favorite charity.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
