Obituary: Agnes Cecilia Ballard, 90, Loretto

Agnes Cecilia Ballard, 90, of Loretto, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at Baptist Health Louisville. She was born July 5, 1928, in Marion County to the late William Forrest Luckett Sr. and Margaret Ann Spalding Luckett. She was a homemaker and member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ignatius “Ig” Ballard Sr.; three sisters, Evelyn Schilling, Mary George Cody and Frances Marie Luckett; two brothers, William Forrest “Bill” Luckett Jr. and Spalding Luckett; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Luckett; and two brothers-in-law, Wally Schilling and Bill Cody.

Survivors include two daughters, Fran Nusbaum (Mike) of Louisville and Julie Ballard of Elizabethtown; two sons, Joe Ballard (Lucy) of Loretto and Doug Ballard of Louisville; three sisters, Rita Demyan (Ed) of Louisville, Betty Kanan (Mike) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Audrey Luckett of Mount Washington; two brothers, Bobby Luckett (Ursula) of Lexington and Jay L. Luckett (Arva) of Prospect; four grandchildren, Daniel Nusbaum, Michael Nusbaum, Ellen Nusbaum and Kimberly Brussell; and two great-grandchildren, Blake Brussell and Braylee Brussell;

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto with the Rev. Bryan Lamberson officiating. Burial is in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Lebanon.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are Doug Ballard, Joe Ballard, Michael Nusbaum, Daniel Nusbaum, Kimberly Brussell and Ellen Nusbaum. Honorary Pallbearers are Blake and Braylee Brussell.

Memorial donations may go to Masses, flowers or to the charity of your choice.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
