Obituary: Rose Ann Wells, 81, Bardstown

Rose Ann Wells, 81, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Springfield to the late James David “Jim” Sr, and Theresa Edelen Railey. She was a former employee of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. She was a member of Fairfield 2nd Baptist Church where she was involved in Women’s Ministries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Wells; two sisters, Susie Mae Phillips and Prudie Yocum; and four brothers, James David Railey Jr., William Railey, Joseph Railey and Lynn Arthur Railey.

She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla Wells of Bardstown and Debra (George) Smith of Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, George Austin Railey, Alfonzo Railey and John Henry Railey, all of Springfield; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at the Fairfield 2nd Baptist Church with THE Rev. Dr. Calvin Holloway officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home and 9-11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at the Fairfield 2nd Baptist Church.

The family requests memorial contributions go to the American Heart Association.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
