Obituary: Rita Mattingly Cecil, 90, Lebanon

Rita Mattingly Cecil, 90, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia. She was born Dec. 31, 1927, in New Hope to the late Joseph William and Mary Cleophas Wells Miles. She was a former employee of Jim Beam Distillery, the old Dant Distillery and Gethsemani Farms.

She was preceded in death by five sons, Stevie Mattingly, Tony Mattingly, infant Robert Edwin Mattingly and infant siamese twins, William Patrick Mattingly and Raymond Dominick Mattingly; and four brothers, Billy Miles, Francis Gerald Miles, Benjamin Carroll Miles and Jody Miles.

Survivors include five daughters, Laura Rita Benningfield of Stringtown, Kathy Vaughn (Craig) of Oglethorpe, Ga., Joyce Mattingly and Helen Jones (Lowel), both of Campbellsville; and Alicia Biven of Lebanon; two sons, Donnie Mattingly (Brenda) of New Hope and Tom Mattingly of Loretto; one brother, Bobby Miles of Loretto; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Hope with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2018, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorial donations may go to Mass of the Air, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Donnie Mattingly, Pat Mattingly, Jessie Mattingly, T. J. Mattingly, Billy Newton, Ronald Hayden, Michael Stephen Brady, Bobby Burke, Jr., Timmy Dale Mattingly, Dylan Newton.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
