Obituary: James Anthony ‘Jamie’ Thompson, 48, Springfield

James Anthony “Jamie” Thompson, 48, of Perryville Road, Springfield, died at 12:53 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born Feb. 9, 1970, in Wilmington, N.C. to Houston and Betty Brown Thompson. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and an employee of Buzick Construction Company of Bardstown.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Thompson (Nov. 3, 2011).

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Kylie Wilson and Krysten Wilson of Bardstown; two sons, Mason Drew Thompson and James Anthony Thompson II, both of Bardstown; his girlfriend, Jennifer Wilson of Bardstown; his father, Houston Thompson of Elizabethtown, N.C.; two sisters, Laura Hill (Larry) of Springfield and Donna Nichols (John) of Bardstown; one nephew, Kevin Hill (Katie) of Harrodsburg; and one niece, Megan Hill of Springfield.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Tipton, a former pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Kyle Yankey, the church pastor. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at the church.

Serving as a honorary pallbearer will be Patsy Richardson. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Hill, Mike Jones, Robert Chisam, Timmy Gibson, Mike King and Duke Richardson.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
