Obituary: William Zachary “W.Z.” Wheatley, 95, formerly of Raywick
William Zachary “W.Z.” Wheatley, 95, of Louisville, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Franciscan Health Care Center in Louisville. He was born March 22, 1923, and was raised in Raywick. He retired from International Harvester and later worked in real estate. He was a member of St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Zachary and Catherine Wheatley; and 10 siblings.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Huff (Doug) of Mount Washington and Elizabeth Broadway (Rick) of Shelbyville; five sons, Charles W. Wheatley (Cindy C.), Bobby Wheatley (Christi), Alan Wheatley (Brooke) and Roger Wheatley, (Tonya) all of Louisville, and Joe Wheatley (Patricia) of Lexington; two sisters, Geneva Childress of Cub Run and Mary Jane Thomas (Bill) of Louisville; his former wife, Naomi Simms Mullins of Louisville; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick, with the Rev. Matt Hardesty officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
