Obituary: John Wesley Richardson, 86, Taylorsville

John Wesley Richardson, 86, of Taylorsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, in Baptist Healthcare in Louisville. He was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Spencer County to the late Lewis H. and Katie Burgin Richardson. He was a farmer, a retired employee of General Electric, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church, Springfield Lions Club, and Springfield Masonic Lodge #50 F & AM.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Mattingly Richardson; one son, Darrell Richardson; and his sister, Pauline Ferris.

He is survived by one daughter, Della (William) Swan of Shepherdsville; one son, John Thomas (Nancy) Richardson of Bloomfield; one brother, Robert Thomas Richardson of Taylorsville; two grandchildren, Dr. Sara R. (Clayton) Rogers and Madison Swan; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Mavis Bennett officiating. Burial is in the Big Spring Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at the funeral home. The Springfield Masonic Lodge #50 F & AM will hold a Masonic memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
