Distillery owner’s foundation awards grants to eight community organizations

Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 5 p.m. — A Bardstown distillery announced today its contributions of nearly $40,000 to community organizations in Nelson County.

Sazerac president and CEO Mark Brown was on hand as the Barton 1792 Distillery gave out its first annual “Contribution to the Community” totalling $37,500. The donations were given in conjunction with the Goldring Family Foundation, a New Orleans-based foundation founded in 1955. The Goldring family owns Barton’s parent company, Sazerac.

The organizations that will share the $37,500 grant include the Stephen Foster Drama Association; Nelson County Community Clinic; Spalding Hall; Springhave Domestic Violence Center; Community Action; Communicare/Nelson County Industries/Wilson Opportunity Center; the Bardstown Foundation for Excellence in Public Eduation; Nelson County Senior Citizens; and the Nelson County Senior Citizens Center.
