Barbara Von Bokern, SCN, 76, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2019, in Louisville. She was born in Covington and was a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 55 years.
BARBARA VON BOKERN SCN
She served in educational ministries, teaching math and religion at St. Rita in Alexandria, La., St. Joseph in Bowling Green and Presentation Academy in Louisville. She served as principal of St. Francis de Sales in Paducah from 1968-1974, and at Community Catholic in Louisville from 1978-1998. She served the SCN Community with her ministry in community service at Nazareth Home from 1998-2014.
She is survived by four sisters, Betty Herold, Darlene Hill, Mary (“Bird”) Von Bokern, and Shirley German; three brothers, Bernard Von Bokern, Jerry Von Bokern and David Von Bokern; her extended family; and by her religious community.
The Mass of Resurrection is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Our Lady of Nazareth Chapel. She will be received on Nazareth Campus in St. Vincent Chapel at 2:30 p.m. January 28 for burial in the Nazareth Cemetery.
Visitation is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Our Lady of Nazareth Chapel at Nazareth Home in Louisville.
