Obituary: Artie Marie Brooks, 91, Bardstown
Artie Marie Brooks, 91, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at her home. She was born on Sept. 12, 1927, in Bardstown to the late John Irvin and Pearlie Curtsinger Hardin. She was a retired teacher for Nelson County Board of Education having taught at Cox’s Creek Elementary School. She was a member of the Nelson County Retired Teachers Association and was a member of Bardstown Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Brooks Jr.; two sisters, Gracie Raisor and Flo Clements; and one brother, Buddy Hardin.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Marie Brooks of Cox’s Creek, Sherri (Charles) Jarvis of Destin, Fla., Angie (Drew) Chambers of Louisville; two sons, James Donald “J.D.” (Sherrie) Brooks of Prescott, Ariz., and Roy Stephen “Steve” Brooks of Bardstown; one sister, Blanche Lewis of Louisville; one brother, Eddie (Gail) Hardin of Bardstown; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Simpson officiating. Burial is in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at the funeral home.
The Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
