Obituary: Anita Hager, SCN, 89, Louisville

Anita Hager, SCN, 89, of Louisville, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was born in Henderson and was a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 66 years.

She served in educational ministries in both grade and high school. She taught at the grade school level at St. Agnes School in Louisville (1952-1957) and at schools in Owensboro, Morganfield, and Newburyport, Mass. She taught high school home economics, government, history and English at Immaculate Conception in Dennison, Ohio, Good Shepherd in Frankfort, and St. John Central in Bellaire, Ohio. She also served as a librarian at La Salette Academy in Covington. She spent several months in Dangriga, Belize in order to set up a library catalogue system at Stann Creek Ecumenical High School. She was director of Be Concerned Inc. in Covington where she served low-income residents in the area. She served as the manager of the bookstore at Catherine Spalding Center at Nazareth and as the librarian at the Motherhouse at Nazareth.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews and her religious community.

The wake is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at St. Vincent de Paul Church at Nazareth.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at St. Vincent de Paul Church at Nazareth. Burial is in the Nazareth Cemetery.
