Obituary: Mary Martha Hutchins, 92, New Hope

Mary Martha Hutchins, 92, of New Hope, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 29, 1926, in New Hope. She was a former employee of Jim Beam Brands distillery and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed caring for her flower gardens and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harold Hutchins; her second husband, Howard Clark; one son, Eddie Hutchins; her parents, Thomas Thurman and Annie Margaret Nalley Mattingly; three sisters, Alice Priddy, Lila Clark and Margaret Morris; and three brothers, John Willett Mattingly, Joseph “Ade” Mattingly and Bob Mattingly.

Survivors include three daughters, Jane Tinnell, Shirley Downs (Larry) and Teri Johnson (Gary), all of Bardstown; four sons, Tommy Hutchins of Elizabethtown, Donnie Hutchins of New Haven, Pat Hutchins (Phyllis) of St. Francis and Carl Hutchins (Pam) of Boston; 16 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Hope with the Rev. Matt Hardesty and the Rev. Ken Fortener officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with a prayer service at 4 p.m.

The pallbearers are grandsons, Joe Pat Hutchins, Joseph Richard Tinnell, James Howard Tinnell, Craig Downs, David Paul Boone, Michael Brent Boone, Thomas Jack Johnson, Dylan Wayne Hutchins and David Shane Hutchins. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Catherine Lynn Kirsch, Susan Renee O’Bryan, Laura Jean Downs, Falon Hutchins and Stacy Hutchins.

The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
