Obituary: Lucille Cosby, SCN, 96, Louisville

Lucille Cosby, SCN, 96, of Louisville, (formerly Sister Mary Ida) died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was born in Richmond, Va., and was a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 64 years. She served in educational ministry in Louisville at St. Cecilia School where she taught second grade. She taught science to the upper grades at Good Shepherd in Frankfort, St. Agnes in Uniontown, Nazareth College at the Nazareth campus, and Peninsula Catholic High in Newport News, Va. From 1970-1987, she was a consultant and research director at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. She served her SCN Community as an assistant at Nazareth Villages, the SCN housing ministry. She assisted with SCN communications and served as director of the SCN corporate responsibility committee.

She is survived by one sister Patricia Elizabeth Cosby; one brother, the Rev. Monsignor R. Roy Cosby; her extended family; and by her religious community.

The Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Nazareth, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

A prayer service is 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at Nazareth Home in Louisville. The wake is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church at Nazareth.
