Tuesday, March 26, 2019 — A former EMT and county pollice officer — and 1993 graduate of Bardstown High School — has officially returned to continue his public service career back in his hometown.
Hugh Hall was introduced at Tuesday’ night’s Bardstown City Council meeting at the city police department’s latest new officer.
Hall served as an EMT with Nelson County EMS, as well as an officer on the old Nelson Police Department. He continued his career in Jefferson County, and brings a total of 21 years of experience.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Mayor Dick Heaton said that recruting officers who are born and raised here takes less time, as he was familiar with Hall’s family and friends who vouched for his experience and character.
Hall and his wife and family currently live in Bardstown.
ZONING ADMENDMENT. The council gave its final approval of an ordinance that corrects errors in the legal description for two tracts annexed into the city limits in 2004. The issues were identified as mapping technology improved and showed the minor error.
According to City Engineer Jessica Filiatreau, the legal description was supposed to be of a closed tract of land. In recent years, the city learned that the legal description in this instance did not.
In other business, the council:
— approved a suggestion from the city’s auditor to create separate banking accounts to accomodate the different account funds held by the city. Up until now, the accounts were tracked but the funds were comingled in a single account.
— approved a 5K walk/run sponsored by the Nelson County Community Clinic for June 8, 2019.
NEXT UP. The Bardstown City Council’s next regular meeting is its working session set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2019, in the council chambers next to the Rec. Center gym.
