Joseph Gerard Greenwell, 68, formerly of New Haven

Joseph Gerard Greenwell, 68, of Elizabethtown, formerly of New Haven, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Fort Knox as a boiler operator. His memberships include St Brigid Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #113, and the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Margaret Greenwell; his wife’s parents, William Paul and Anna Rose Bowling; one sister-in-law, Eileen Greenwell; and one nephew, Matthew Bowling.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Paula Greenwell of Elizabethtown; two
daughters, Beth Ann (Ron) Greenwell and Dana Marie (Chuck) Padgett, both of Rineyville; one sister, Ellen (David) Dutschke of Louisville; one brother, Don Greenwell of Louisville; six grandchildren, Joshua Greenwell, Garrett Greenwell, Logan Greenwell, Lilly Padgett, Waylon Padgett and Case Padgett; and a host of family and friends, all of whom were near and dear to his heart.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove, and 9-11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019, at St. Catherine of Alexiandria Church in New Haven.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with burial in he church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mass of the Air or a charity of your choice.

The Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove is in charge of arrangements.
