Obituary: Garland Wayne Brown, 77, Carbondale

Garland Wayne Brown, 77, of Carbondale, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Baptist Health in Madisonville, with his wife and sons by his side. He was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Hopkins County to the late William Tyson Brown and Gertrude Parker Brown. He was a retired UPS driver, he loved fishing, playing golf, trading and restoring old cars, horses, coal mining, all kinds of sports and most of all spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Wilson and Faye Gary; and three brothers, Howard Brown, Morris Brown and Curtis Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Jackson Brown; two sons, Nicholas (Beth) Brown of Jonesborough, TN and Troy (Renee’) Brown of Bardstown; one brother, Ray (Martha) Brown of Earlington; and three grandchildren, Ashton Brown, Logan Brown and Jacob Brown.

The funeral was 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2019, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Leon Smith and Bro. Clifton Vandiver officiating. Burial was in New Suthard’s Cemetery.

The Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville was in charge of arrangements.
