Sheriff’s office, EMS, respond Monday night to report of accidental shooting

Tuesday, April 16, 2019 –– The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Nelson County EMS responded Monday night to the area of Walnut Creek subdivision for what was reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At about 11:30 p.m., police and EMS were dispatched to an address off Walnut Creek Drive for an individual with a gunshot wound. When deputies arrived, they determined that a male subject accidentally discharged a 9 mm handgun while cleaning the weapon, striking the subject in the leg. The injured person was transported to a hospital for treatment of the injury.
