Local E911 dispatcher completes EKU communications training program

Saturday, April 20, 2019 — A Nelson County dispatcher was among 19 public safety dispatchers from across the state who graduated this past week from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Public Safety Dispatch Academy on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.

Nate Hornback graduated this week from the dispatch academy as part of Dispatch Academy Class 125. Hornback has been employed by Nelson County E-911 Dispatch since 2018. While at the academy, Hornback served as Class Leader during the training academy.

The class underwent five weeks of training including Criminal Justice Information Systems, Emergency Medical Dispatch and basic dispatch skills. The class also completed portfolios showcasing their home counties.

The graduation ceremony was held in the Posey Auditorium in the Stratton Building on the EKU campus.
