Olena W. Brickner, 88, of Birmingham, Ala, died Monday, May 6, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Everett Smith and Ethel Grigsby Smith; and her siblings, Gladys Coulter, Veneta Burns, Calvin Smith, Glen Smith, Alma Brown, Hedger Smith, Lottie McComb, Marnie Smith, Sandra Scott, and Victoria Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, the Rev. Wayne Brickner, one daughter, Nancy Pinkerton; one sister, Rebecca (Bob) Bennett; four brothers, Eugene Smith, Nathaniel (Betty) Smith, Kenny Smith, and Finace (Cindy) Smith; four grandsons, Matthew Pinkerton, Bradley (Sarah) Pinkerton, Jacob Pinkerton and Mitchell Pinkerton; one great-granddaughter, Evianna Pinkerton; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Chaplin Baptist Church with burial in the Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation go to your favorite charity.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
