Obituary: Charles Ray Ewing, 69, Raywick

Charles Ray Ewing, 69, of Raywick, died Monday, May 13, 2019, at Spring View Hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Marion County. He was a self-employed mechanic and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and helping others.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Gerald Ewing.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Farmer Ewing; his mother, Pauline Russell Ewing of Loretto; one daughter, Ann Marie Coffman (Bill) of Bardstown; three sons, Anthony Ray Ewing (Heather Farmer) of Saint Joe, Charles Steven Ewing of Raywick and Ashley Ewing (Sharon) of Campbellsville; five sisters, Rose Marie Simms (Tom) and Patricia Lynn Ewing, both of Lebanon, Kathryn Ann Reynolds (J.T.) of Saint Joe, Martha Ann Knopp (Wayne) of Finley and Mary Carmel Ewing (Mike Engler) of LaGrange; five brothers, Francis Kenneth Ewing of Lebanon, Joseph Terrence Ewing of Loretto, Joseph Clarence Ewing of Campbellsville, Timothy Gerald Ewing (Kym) of Tennessee and James Douglas Ewing of Greensburg; and five grandchildren, Maggie Coffman, Bradyn Ewing, Jaelin Ewing, Austin Ewing and Kayleigh Farmer.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2019, at St. Charles Catholic Church; 675 Highway 327, Lebanon, with the Rev. David Naylor officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are Keith Farmer, Kevin Farmer, Nathan Ballard, Jason Morgan, Glendon Osborne and Bryan Simms.

The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
