Wilson Parkway anhydrous ammonia leak prompts Sunday safety precautions

Monday, June 3, 2019 — First-responders were called to NPR Manufacturing, 680 Wilson Parkway, Sunday afternoon about 3:34 p.m. for an ammonia leak.

According to an Emergency Management press release, approximately 5,000 gallons of anhydrous ammonia were released at NPR.

As a result of the leak, residents who lived within a one mile radius were advised to go indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and turn off air conditioning units.

The leak was contained, and the safety precautions were lifted after about three hours.

The Bardstown Fire Department, Nelson County Fire Department, Nelson County EMS and Nelson County Emergency Management were joined by Shepherdsville firefighters and additional personnel from Jefferson County and state agencies.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
