Bardstown man indicted on charges of sexual intercourse with 17-year-old

Wednesday, June 19, 2019 — A Bardstown man was indicted by a Nelson County grand jury Wednesday, June 19, 2019, on charges that he had sex with a 17-year-old.
Nathan Bowling, 36, of Bardstown, was indicted on charges that include third-degree rape; intimidating a participant in a legal process; tampering with physical evidence; and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

The indictment further alleges that Bowling tampered with physical evidence when he deleted the contents of his phone to avoid revealing the information in a police investigation sometime between May 31 and June 5, 2019. The indictment also alleges that on June 6, 2019, Bowling was found with a switchblade knife in his pants pocket.
Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions. His arraignment in Nelson Circuit Court is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 5, 2019.
All the charges in the indictment — except the concealed weapon charge — are Class D felonies punishable by a maximum of 1 to 5 years in prison. The concealed weapons charge is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by 90 days to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $500.
