Obituary: Joseph ‘JR’ Waldridge, 78, Bardstown
Joseph “JR” Waldridge, 78, of Bardstown, died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Oct. 27, 1940, in Bardstown to the late Eva Waldridge. He was a self-employed car mechanic and was a former employee of Sam Swope Automotive Group.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, J.B. Hayden; and four brothers, Charles Hayden, David Hayden, James E. Hayden and Billy Hayden.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Barnes Waldridge; one daughter, Susan Sweeney of Bardstown; one son, Tony (Nichole) Waldridge of Bardstown; four sisters, Rosie (Jim) Clements and Barbara Wentworth, both of Mount Washington, Ramona (Billy) Hoops of Taylorsville, and Mary Louise Davenport of Shelbyville; one brother, Johnnie (Judy) Hayden of Mount Washington; five grandchildren, Kristen E. Wolf, Jasmine Sweeney, Avery Sweeney, Hannah Waldridge and Andy Waldridge; and three great-grandchildren, Carleigh Wolf, Landen Wolf, and Eva Ferrie.
The funeral is 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Freddy Riggs officiating.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019, at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Stroke Association.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
