Friday, July 12, 2019 — Due to bridge work by the Kentucky Department of Transportation in the eastbound lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway, the eastbound lanes of the parkway between Exit 25, US 150 / Springfield Road and Exit 21, US31E / New Haven Road will be closed.
Eastbound traffic will have to exit the BG Parkway at Exit 21 onto New Haven Road, detour north into Bardstown, drive through town on Stephen Foster Avenue east, and then get back on the parkway at the Springfield Road interchange near Walmart and Lowe’s.
According to a press release from the City of Bardstown, the road closing and detour are expected to last a week. The Department of Transportation is the state agency responsible for the Bluegrass Parkway bridge and highway repairs, and decision to close the roadway next week is their decision.
Be aware that the Nelson County Fair is also starting Monday, July 15, 2019, and the road closure and needed detour may create additional traffic on New Haven Road.
