Obituary: Richard Alan McLaughlin, 75, Boston

Richard Alan McLaughlin, 75, of Boston, died Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown with his family by his side. He was a Methodist by faith. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served his country in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970. He retired from General Electric with more than 42 years of service. After retiring, he and his wife owned and operated their family farm for many years in the Boston area. He was born May 7, 1944 in Fontana, Calif., to the late Robert and Dorothy Cheek McLaughlin.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Carol Brown McLaughlin of Boston; three sons, John (Lori) McLaughlin of Shepherdsvile, Brian (Terri) Conover of Shelbyville, Ind., and Brett Conover of Shelbyville, Ind.; one sisters, Patricia McLaughlin of Cinncinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Celebration of Life is 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 Main St., New Haven with the Rev. Dana DeSpain officiating.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
