Obituary: Alma Louise Harbin, 91, Hodgenville
Alma Louise Harbin, 91, of Hodgenville, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at Green Meadow Healthcare in Mount Washington. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hodgenville. She authored two cookbooks and had a cooking show with WDRB’s Joe Orlando. She also served as President of the Bullitt County Homemakers and Quilt Club and she was a very talented seamstress, having worked and done alterations for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ellsworth Harbin; two sons, Ancil Lee Harbin and Vaughn Ray Harbin; her parents, Ancil and Daisy Bratcher Higdon; one son-in-law, Jockie Boley; one grandson, Matthew Allen Harbin; and four brothers, Eugene Higdon, Petie Higdon, Joe Higdon and James Higdon.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances Eloise Boley of New Haven and Paula Kay Harbin of Mount Washington; two sons, William Michael (Barbara) Harbin of Hodgenville, and Guy Christopher (Kyle) Harbin of Taylorsville; two daughters-in-law, Terry Harbin of Taylorsville and Theresa Harbin of Bardstown; two sisters, Mary (Bill) Beard of Hodgenville and Willie Ann (Rodney) Peace of Magnolia; two brothers, Bob (Glenda) Higdon of Middlesboro and Tommy (Jeanette) Higdon of Bardstown; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Fowler officiating. Burial is in the Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
