4 suspects in custody face additional charges related to local vehicle theft

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019 — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a vehicle theft reported Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019 from a home in the 1200 block of Plainview Drive.
According to a sheriff’s office press release, a 2008 Chevrolet Traverse was stolen from a residence on Aug. 7, 2019, and was last seen driving toward Boston. Officers searched the area and followed up on leads but did not locate the vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was later spotted in Shepherdsville. Officers learned the vehicle and four suspects in the vehicle theft were arrested by Kentucky State Police on Aug. 8 and housed in the Shelby County Jail. Nelson County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Richard Jones and Det. Reece Riley interviewed the suspects at the jail.
The investigation revealed the location of a truck, trailer and a camper stolen out of Louisville. The camper was located at White’s Campground in Nelson County, and was where the four suspects were living.
Det. Reece Riley’s investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected to be filed against one or more of the suspects in custody.
The suspects include:
- William Cody West, 38, of Pikeville, who is already facing charges taht include fleeing or evading police, second-degree (on foot); possession of drug paraphernalia; receiving stolen property; and trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine).
- Beverly L. Lester, 38, of Pikeville, arrested on charges of receiving stolen property under $10,000; improper registration plate; possession of drug paraphernalia; receiving stolen property over $10,000; trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine); and public intoxication controlled substance (excludes alcohol).
- Brittany Paige Sellards, 22, from the Floyd County community of Betsey Lane, arrested on charges of tampering with physical evidence; public intoxication controlled substance (excludes alcohol); possession of drug paraphernalia; receiving stolen property over $10,000; trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine); and possession controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine).
- Lauren Ashley Powell, 22, of Elkhorn, arrested on charges of public intoxication controlled substance (excludes alcohol); possession of drug paraphernalia; receiving stolen property, $10,000 or more; trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine); possession controlled substances, first-degree (heroin); and failure to appear.
