Cox’s Creek man dies following Wednesday morning two-vehicle crash

Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019 — A Cox’s Creek man died Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in the 6100 block of New Shepherdsville Road in the area of the new Five Star Food Mart.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers responded to the two-vehicle crash at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday involving a 2015 Nissan passenger car and a 2013 Chevrolet 1500 work van.

Investigators determined that George Froehlich, 77, of Cox’s Creek, was attempting to turn left from the Five Star Food Mart lot and head south on KY 245. His vehicle pulled into the path of the Chevrolet 1500 work van operated by Christopher Sympson, 29, of Bardstown.

Froehlich was treated at the scene by Nelson County EMS and transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital where he died. Sympson was transported by private vehicle to a medical facility for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

KSP Post 4 Troopers were assisted by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Nelson County EMS and the Bardstown Fire Department.

The collision is under investigation by KSP Det. Bryan Washer.
