Thursday, Sept 19, 2019 — Retired Brigadier General Jim Iacocca, CEO and executive director of the Knox Regional Development Alliance (KRDA), spoke to the Sept. 9th meeting of The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). He discussed Knox’s economic impact on surrounding counties.

There are approximately 23,000 people working at Fort Knox and is home to eight General Officer commands. The geographical location of Fort Knox makes it a very significant military post. Also Knox is the only energy independent post in the Army due to having natural gas resources. Knox cannot sell this gas resource but can use it to maintain operations of the post.

KDRA is working to reopen the Patton Museum gate on US31W. He encouraged everyone to visit Fort Knox and explained the gate pass procedures and the new automated pass kiosk at the visitors’ center. To stay current on the latest NARFE news like us at www.facebook.com/narfe1050.
