John Hardin SAR chapter to meet 10 a.m. Saturday at Hardin County library

Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 — The next monthly meeting of the Colonel John Hardin Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at the Hardin County Public Library, 100 Jim Owen Dr, Elizabethtown. The room at the library is easy to find and access as there are no steps and it has plenty of seating.

Benjamin Humphries is prepared to give a talk about the Elizabethtown Historic Downtown Walking Tour. Ben Humphries presentation on the Historic Walking Tour will include Ranelle Rigney as Aunt Beck, Johnny Scott as General Braddock, Laureen Laumeyer as Carrie A Nation, Jody Ingalls as Jenny Lind! This will be really entertaining and educational. You are invited to bring your family as they will enjoy the presentation.

Presented by the Heritage Council, the Downtown Walking Tour takes you through time to visit historical figures and events that helped shape Elizabethtown. Characters on this tour include Gen. George Custer, Sarah Bush, P.T. Barnum, and many more. The tour also presents historical events in Elizabethtown’s history including the famous cannonball that is lodged in a downtown building, and one of the most infamous diamond hoaxes in the county.

Ted Sanford, Barry Billings, and George Williams will give us a brief update on the the joint DAR/SAR American Revolution PatriotS Memorial.
