Obituary: Nancy Jewell Simpson, 92, Bloomfield

Nancy Jewell Simpson, 92, of Bloomfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at her residence. She was born March 9, 1927, in Nelson County to the late Jude and Matilda Hellard Hood. She was a homemaker, was old school, well respected in her community and was a member of Chaplin Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Simpson; one daughter, Annette Edwards; one son, Kenny Simpson; seven sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol (Terry) Bowling of Bloomfield; one son, Danny (Mary) Simpson of Bloomfield; one sister, Lorine Richardson of Bloomfield; one son-in-law, Steve Edwards of Bloomfield; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Simpson of Bardstown; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at the Houghlin Funeral Home with Bro. Joshua Simpson, her grandson, officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery at Chaplin.

Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Chaplin Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, or Hospice of Nelson County.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
