Obituary: James Raphael ‘Jim’ Mahoney, 80, Bardstown

JAMES RAPHAEL “JIM” MAHONEY

James Raphael “Jim” Mahoney, 80, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at University Hosptial with his family by his side. He was born in New Haven Oct. 17, 1939, to the late Kent and Mary Dawson Mahoney. He was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He retired from Barton’s Distiller LTD in Bardstown. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Mahoney.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Sims Mahoney; one sister, Dorothy Ann Hall of Bardstown; four brothers, Ken (Kay) Mahoney of Summerville, S.C., Dick Mahoney of Melbourne, Fla., Allie Mahoney and Bill (Sue) Mahoney, both of New Haven; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, and 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home New Haven Chapel with a 6:30 p.m. Monday prayer service with the Rev. Gary Young officiating.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home New Haven Chapel, 167 N. Main St., in New Haven is in charge of arrangments.
