Teen injured after gun accidentally discharges in moving vehicle

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 — A 19-year-old man was injured Wednesday evening after he was accidentally shot while traveling in a vehicle on New Haven Road.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, at about 5:26 p.m. Wednesday Cody Brown, 19, was injured when a firearm accidentally discharged inside a vehicle he was in along with Joseph Mattingly.
Brown suffered a single gunshot wound to the arm and abdomen. He was treated at the scene by Nelson County EMS and transported first to Flaget Memorial Hospital, and later to University Hospital in Louisville. Mattingly was not injured in the incident.
The sheriff’\s office was assisted by Bardstown Police Department and the Bardstown Fire Department.
The investigation is continuing by Detective R. Riley
