Local rental business burglary suspect turns out to be employee
Tuesday, July 5, 2011, 2 p.m. — A Bardstown business was a victim of a burglary allegedly by one of its own employees over the holiday weekend.
Brandon Board, 20, of Bardstown, was arrested early Saturday morning following an investigation by Officer Jason Ellis of the Bardstown Police Department.
At 2:06 a.m. Saturday, Ellis found that a burglary had taken place at Keaney’s Rental Center, 928 Bloomfield Road; a glass door was damaged and an overhead door was partly open. Additional officers arrived to backup Ellis and check the business. The owners were contacted and they came to the business.
Board was identified on the building’s surveillance video as the alleged perpetrator. When officers visited his home that morning on Cathedral Manor, they found him outside in his vehicle wearing the same shorts he was seen allegedly wearing in the videotape. While being placed in a police cruiser, Board struck Officer Andrew Riley in the jaw with his knee or foot and fled the area on foot. After a brief foot chase he was apprehended by officers. After another struggle with officers, Board was tased. He was later treated by Nelson County EMS before being arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail. The jail’s log shows he was booked into the jail at about 4:53 a.m.
Board was charged with burglary, third-degree; assault, third-degree-police/probation officer; fleeing or evading police, second-degree (on foot); resisting arrest; giving officer false name or address.
