Obituary: Betty Fracchia, SCN, 78, Memphis, Tenn.

Betty Fracchia, SCN, 78, of Memphis, Tenn., (formerly Sister Joseph Paul) died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, in Memphis, Tenn. She was a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 57 years.

Her first ministries were in elementary education. She taught at St. Anne School in Readville, Mass.; St. Rita School in Alexandria, La.; and St. Elizabeth School in Clarksdale, Miss. where she also served as principal. She also served in parish and pastoral ministry at St. John Parish in Oxford, Miss.

Beginning in 1997, she served at St. Peter Home for Children in a variety of positions, including educational coordinator in social services and as director.

She is survived by her extended family and by her religious community.

Visitation and prayer service is 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Canale Funeral Home in Memphis.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at St. Louis Church in Memphis. Burial is in the Nazareth Cemetery.
