Burglary suspect afoul of law less than 24 hours after release from jail

BRANDON M. BOARD

Wednesday, July 6, 2011, 12:24 p.m.  (UPDATED 3:15 p.m.) — The man charged with the burglary of his employer’s building over the weekend is now facing additional legal trouble.

Brandon M. Board, 20, was sought Wednesday morning in connection with a city police investigation of a car theft in the 100 block of South Third Street about 11 a.m. The victim knew that Board had taken her vehicle, and one of Board’s family members told police he saw the man take the vehicle.

Board contacted the victim by phone and said he was going to leave the vehicle, a white 1992 Toyota Camry, in the parking lot of the Dairy Queen on East John Rowan Blvd. Board fled the scene on foot. Additional city police officers joined in the search of the area.

Board was later spotted on foot behind Medica Pharmacy at the corner of Fourth and West Stephen Foster Avenue. From there he ran to the area behind Spalding Hall before cutting over toward West Broadway. He was taken into custody after he was cornered by officers Tony Satterly and Robin Cull and Chief Rick McCubbin at the baseball fields on West Broadway. He arrested and taken to the Nelson County Jail and charged with theft by unlawful taking-automobile and fleeing or evading police on foot.

A press release from Bardstown Police stated the vehicle was recovered without damage and returned to its owner.

Board, who was arrested Saturdy morning on burglary charges, was out of jail fewer than 24 hours before Wednesday’s arrest. Jail records show he was released from the jail at 8:44 p.m. Tuesday after posting bond.

Board was arrested Saturday in connection with the burglary of Keaney’s Rental Center in Bardstown. He was charged with burglary, third-degree; assault, third-degree-police/probation officer; fleeing or evading police, second-degree (on foot); resisting arrest; giving officer false name or address.
