Bardstown City Council welcomes Thompson as BPD’s newest police officer

Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 –– The Bardstown City Council welcomed its newest member of the Bardstown Police Department at the start of its meeting Tuesday night.

Mayor Dick Heaton administered the oath to Officer Timothy Thompson, a retired Louisville Metro Police Department officer whose first public service career was as a professional firefighter.

Thompson and his family are Bardstown residents, and he thanked Chief Kim Kraeszig, the mayor and council for the opportunity to continue his law enforcement career with the Bardstown Police Department.

SEWER PROJECT COST REVISION. The council approved a service agreement with HDR, an engineering company working on the city’s sewer rehabilitation project. The original cost estimates for the improvements of work at the American Greetings pump station have been replaced with the actual costs for the project.

RE-APPOINTMENTS. The council unanimously approved the follow re-appointments:

  • Jim Taylor re-appointed to a three-year term on the Joint City-County Ethics Board;
  • Donald Blincoe re-appointed to a 3 year terms on the Property Maintenance Board of Appeals
  • Beth Barkley re-appointed to a three-year term on the Historical Review Board.
  • Summer Arlinghaus re-appointed to a three-year term on the Historical Review Board
  • Chris Ryan re-appointed to a three-year term on the city Tree Board

In other business, the council:

— approved a five-year tax moratorium request from Finn Davis Rental LLC for a residential property at 210 East Stephen Foster Ave. in Bardstown. The moratorium means the house will not be re-appraised by PVA for a period of five years once improvements are completed. According to the application, the owner plans to spend at least $40,000 on repairs and upgrades.

— modified the city bank account signature cards to include the new Chief Financial Officer, Aaron Boles.
