Bardstown man indicted for attempts to promote, procure a minor for sex

Friday, July 8, 2011, 12:45 a.m. — A registered sex offender who lives in Bardstown was indicted Wednesday on charges he attempted to use an alias on two different occasions to procure or promote the use of a minor for sexual activity.
According to the indictment, Joseph Irvin Hardin, 29, allegedly failed to comply with the terms of the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry when he failed to register his aliases with his probation and parole officer. The indictment alleges that on March 8 and March 27, 2011, Hardin used his computer or other electronic means to procure or promote the use of a minor for a sexual activity.
According to the indictment, Hardin was previously convicted of two counts of third-degree rape in December 2005. Bail was set at $100,000 cash only plus conditions.
The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
