County expecting up to 2-in. snow, 1/2-in. freezing rain tonight

Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 – (UPDATED 9:25 p.m.) The approaching winter storm may leave Nelson County under a slippery coating of up to 2 inches of snow and 1/2 an inch of ice, according to the National Weather Service office in Louisville.
TONIGHT. Periods of snow and sleet before 1am, then periods of freezing rain and sleet between 1am and 4am, then periods of freezing rain after 4am. Low around 28. East wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime ice accumulation of 0.3 to 0.5 of an inch possible. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of around 2 inches.
TOMORROW. Periods of freezing rain before 1pm, then a chance of rain between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of snow after 4pm. High near 33. East wind 6 to 10 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
