Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Gardner Luckett, 60, Versailles

Elizabeth “Betty” Gardner Luckett, 60, of Versailles, died Thursday July 7, 2011, at UK Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.

She was born in Loretto, the daughter of the late William Paul and Mary Elsie Gardner. She was a retired member of the Kentucky Teachers Retirement System and she served as teacher, counselor and administrator in Woodford County for 24 years.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Gardner, and infants David and Ronald Gardner and one infant sister, Dorothy Louise Gardner.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Philip Leo Luckett;three sons, Philip Leo Luckett, Jr. and Matthew Ryan Luckett M.D., both of Lexington and Michael William Luckett of Versailles; five sisters, Ann (Marion) Nichols, Theresa Detherage,  Nancy (Kenny) Ballard all of Loretto, Carolyn (Andy) May and Suzanne (Terry) Holt all of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven brothers, Billy Gardner of Lebanon, Marvin (Betty) Gardner of Saint Mary’s, Bob Gardner, Gerald Gardner, Randy Gardner, Mike Gardner and Ray (Judy) Gardner all of Loretto; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m.Tuesday at St. Leo Catholic Church, 295 Huntertown Road, Versailles, with burial in Rose Crest Cemetery.  The Rev. Danny Schwendeman will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, and 2-8 p.m. Monday at St. Leo Catholic Church, Versailles, with a rosary service at 8 p.m. Monday.

Her brothers will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo Catholic Church for Masses, Missionaries of Charity, Fathers of Mercy or Taylor Manor Nursing Home.
