Frank H. ‘Cat’ Peterson, 82

Frank H. “Cat” Peterson, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born June 26, 1929 in Marion County, he was a lifelong  farmer and member of St. Charles Catholic Church.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, earning two bronze stars. He was a member of the Marion County Cattlemen’s Association, Marion County Veterans Honor Guard, American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 5910.  He formerly served on the boards of the Marion County Farm Service Agency and Marion County Cooperative Extension.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Bertrand and Catherine Louise Blandford Peterson; a son, Scott Peterson;a daughter, Pamela Peterson; a sister, Benita Kolb; and two brothers, Fletcher and J. B. Peterson.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Lanham Peterson; two daughters, Phyllis (Jim) Schlich of Lexington, Lorrie (Jack) Goodwin of Madison, Wisconsin; two sons, John (Kathy) Peterson of Lexington, and Dan (Pearl) Peterson of Versailles; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Greenwell Peterson Hardesty of Lexington;  two brothers, Gene Mark Peterson of Lebanon and Henry Peterson of Loretto; and 16 grandchildren,

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Saint Mary’s, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. John Lesousky will be the celebrant with the Rev. Deacon Joseph Dant assisting.  Marion County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.

Pallbearers are Doug Peterson and grandsons, John Goodwin, Jared Peterson, Justin Peterson, Charlie Peterson, Eric Schlich. Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughters, Pamela Steinmetz, Maggie Schlich, Erin Peterson, Allison Peterson, Kate Goodwin, Elizabeth Goodwin, Ashley Peterson, Abbey Peterson and granddaughter-in-law Izzy Peterson.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, KY with a prayer service at 7 PM Thursday.
