Freezing rain to continue overnight, spreading icy glaze on roadways

Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, 1:17 a.m. — Freezing rain continues to fall over Nelson County at this hour. The National Weather Service reports temperatures are in the upper 20s across much of the region.

Warm, low-level air will continue to product light to moderate freezing rain overnight. The freezing rain is already glazing city streets and county roads at this hour, with numerous reports of vehicles sliding off roadways.

The National Weather Service anticipates that the icy glaze will continue to build on untreated road surfaces, bridges, sidewalks and overpasses.
