Bernard Ivo Newton, 80, New Haven

Bernard Ivo Newton, 80, of New Haven, died Friday, July 15, 2011, with his family by his side at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He was retired from Salsman Construction Co. in Bardstown after several years of service. He also worked for General Electric in Louisville, as well as the Nick Greenwell Funeral Home, Hagan & Nusz, and continued on with the William R. Rust Funeral Home.

He was born July 18, 1930, to the late Edward Ivo and Emma Louise Hollis Newton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Irene Braden Newton; a brother, Mickey Newton; and four sisters, Lillian Newton, Dorothy Brunhammer, Sudie Mae Lobb and Gladys Hazelwood.

He is survived by three sons, Tony (Lisa) Newton of Hodgenville, and Mike (Vicky) Newton and Pat Newton, both of New Haven; three daughters, Paula (Edison) Bryant of New Brunsfels, Texas, and Kathy (Joe L. ) Cissell and Peggy Newton, both of New Haven; one foster daughter, Mary Ann Richardson of New Haven; four brothers, Joe (Anna Bell) Newton of New Haven, Freddy (Shirley) Newton of Bardstown, Lee (Beverly) Newton of Icetown, and Felix (Kay) Newton of Buffalo; three sisters, Elizabeth Woolums of Frankfort, Agnes Newton of New Haven, and Mildred (Mike) Masterson of Holy Cross; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven. A prayer service will be 5 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home.
