Woman arrested after alleged theft from elderly woman’s home
Friday, July 22, 2011, 11 p.m. — A local woman was arrested Friday in connection with the robbery of the home of an elderly resident of the 100 block of Sunset Drive in Bardstown.
Erin Barnes, 29, was arrested by Bardstown Police after their investigation into an attempted theft from the home of an 86-year-old woman. Police believe Barnes entered the home and allegedly took a wallet belonging to her son who lives in the home with her. The woman confronted Barnes in the driveway of her home, and during the confrontation, the vehicle Barnes was in apparently backed out of the driveway with the door ajar, the door knocking the victim to the ground.
The wallet was recovered at the scene.
Nelson County EMS was called to the victim’s home in the 100 block of Sunset Drive about 4 p.m. She was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment and later airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital.
Witnesses described the vehicle Barnes was driving in as a red Dodge Dakotoa king cab pickup truck. Barnes and the truck were found at a residence in the 3000 block of Springfield Road. Barnes was later arrested and is charged with first-degree robbery and wanton endangerment in the first-degree.
