Firefighers called to KY245 for tractor-trailer rig with brake fire

Thursday, July 28, 2011, 12:27 p.m. –– The Bardstown Fire Department responded to a tractor-trailer rig with its brakes on fire located on KY245 near the intersection of Old Nazareth Road. A city police unit is out with the vehicle and reports the inner tire is burning. The city officer is going to give the driver the use of his cruiser’s fire extinguisher.

12:34 p.m. — Incident commander reports the fire appears to be out but the brake and axle area is still very hot and smoking.
