Brenda J. Riggs Powell, 71, Bardstown
Brenda J. Riggs Powell, 71, passed away Monday August 1, 2011, at her residence in Bardstown. She was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Louisville and was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Powell; her parents, Claude and Ava Riggs and one sister, Joyce Reeves.
She is survived by three daughters, Valerie (Don) Etherton of Prospect, Sherry (Samuel) Johnson of New Hope and Melonie Isham of Bardstown; three brothers, Lillard Riggs of Lebanon Junction, Curtis (Brenda) Riggs and Larry (Linda) Riggs both of Grayson County; one sister, Jeanette (Chuck) Cook of Louisville; four grandchildren, Bradley Etherton, Melissa Gavin, LeeAnn Moore and Morgan Williams and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial inHighlandMemoryGardens–Mt.Washington. The Rev. Edward McHargue will officiate.
Visitation is 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Thursday at the Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown.
