Elizabeth S. Garivey, 74, Barsdtown

Elizabeth S. Garivey, 74, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Life Care Center of Bardstown.  She was born June 13, 1937, in Johnson City, Tenn. She was a retired nurse and a member of the Catholic faith.  She was formerly employed as a nurse at Federal Hill Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dierdre McCurdy; her parents, Louis and Kate Swatzel Whitson; and 5 brothers, Earl, Louis, Eugene, Niles and Douglas Whitson.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Foley of Ogden, Utah and Robert McCurdy of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Dodie Brumbaugh of Bullhead City, Ariz.; a sister, Frances Cecil Howard of Bardstown; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen with no services.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nelson County or the American Cancer Society.
