Alleged dog food thief indicted Wednesday on robbery charges

Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, 1:30 a.m. — The man arrested Friday, July 29, 2011, for allegedly stealing three bags of dog food was indicted Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury on second-degree robbery charges.

Trevor Ballard, 23, of Bardstown, was charged after he allegedly loaded three bags of dog food and tried to leave the Bardstown Kroger store on July 28, 2011. One of the store’s loss prevention personnel stopped Ballard, but he struggled with them before slipping out of his shirt and fleeing the store on foot. He was arrested the next day at his home without incident.

Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions. Arraignment was set in Nelson Circuit Court on Aug. 18, 2011.
