Pair indicted for allegedly bringing contraband into Nelson County Jail

Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, 1:30 a.m. — A man and woman were indicted Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, on charges they attempted to bring cigarettes, marijuana and Xanax pills into the Nelson County Jail.

Jackie E. Allen III, 30, and Natasha M. Mosier, 27, both of Bardstown, were indicted on charges of three counts of promoting contraband in the first-degree and complicity to same; possession of controlled substance in the third-degree and complicity to same; and possession of marijuana and complicity to same.

According to the indictment, on July 7, 2011, Allen — acting alone or in concert with Mosier — allegedly introduced the contraband into the jail.

Allen, who is incarcerated at the Nelson County Jail, was also charged in the indictment for tampering with physical evidence when he allegedly tried to flush the cigarettes, marijuana and Xanax pills down the toilet. Allen was also charged with persistent felony offender, second-degree.

Bail for Allen was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions. Mosier’s bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions.  The pair are set for arraignment in Nelson Circuit Court on Aug. 18, 2011.
